It Has Begun

As the last days of September ended we began our journey into the first show of our season; August Wilson's Fences. The first two days of rehearsals were spent around the table; yes table work. The cast was all together and there was sort of a calm before the storm. I was elated because we have brought on d.l. Hopkins as Bono to play opposite Toney Cobb who has the lead role of Troy Maxon. Other cast members include Jordon Frink (Cory) who can currently be seen in the Triangle Players production of "Four Queens", Elliot Eddie (Gabe) whose acting credits include the lead in "A Soldiers Play" at Pasadena playhouse, Laurent St. Giles (Lyons) who was recently the lead in Charcoal Street, and Rochelle Turnage (Rose) a new comer to the AART stage that blew us all away at our company audition...needless to say I'm like a kid in a candy store as we have now entered the storm.

Gosh, that hurts my feelings. I love "Fences!" I can't believe I missed it! I had to do a scene from this play where I played Cory for my Semester Final in my Acting I class at Longwood University... And one of my dramatic monologues is from this play, again me playing Cory. I would have loved to see how someone else portrayed Cory.

Wow! I just heard of your theater group, and would love to see Steel Magnolias. I also would like more information on how I can learn of future auditions please. I can be reached at lovettpam@yahoo.com. Thanks!

I want to thank all those who came out to share "Steel" with us. It was so much fun to work-- or try to keep up with-- my wonderful, beautiful, talented, sisters. HUGE kudos to our phenomenal stage manager, Rochelle and our beloved director, Toney Q. Cobb. I would go on, but I've got to come out of character and lose some of this mushyness! To our company members who handled the marketing and front-of-house-- you have NO IDEA how much you have contributed to the show and the company. Crew-- wow. Set crew, stage crew, tech crew-- You all are more than a line item on the program. We really do appreciate you all. Thanks for bringing my shop to life-- and bringing people to see it! In the words of Shelby, "I love you all!"
